Gold Eagles
have a face value of $10 and were issued from 1795 to 1933. The coins took on standard specifications in 1838, which were used for the duration of the denomination. The coins contain 90% gold and 10% copper that yields a net weight of 0.48375 ounces of pure gold. Liberty Head Gold Eagles were issued from 1838 to 1907. The highly collectible Indian Head Gold Eagles were issued from 1907 to 1933.
